In line with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), our autonomous college is at the forefront of adapting to the changing landscape of education. The NEP emphasizes autonomy for higher educational institutions, enabling them to innovate and excel in their academic pursuits. As an autonomous college, we have embraced the principles of NEP to enhance our educational offerings and provide a conducive environment for holistic learning and development.
Along with seven undergraduate B.Sc. programs (Botany, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Zoology, Computer Science (Minor), Biotechnology (Minor)), we offer five post-graduate M.Sc. programs (Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Mathematics). We also run Ph.D. programs in Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology and Zoology.
The college also offers 17 certificate courses in various fields viz. CPBFI, Innovation Start Up and Internship, Herb and Herbal products, Clinical Laboratory Technology, Statistical Analysis using R, Vermicompost Technology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Industrial Wastewater Management (in association with St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai), Astronomy and many more. Since 2018-19, we have conducted an online program named Spoken Tutorial in partnership with IIT Bombay at our ICT Center, providing valuable learning experiences and enhancing digital skills for our students.
Our college boasts well-equipped laboratories, an ICT Lab, Centralized Research Laboratory, Language Lab, and a library enriched with over 40,000 books, periodicals, and research journals. We take pride in attracting students from other universities who recognize the quality of education we provide.
To foster academic growth and exchange of knowledge, we regularly organize national-level seminars called “Innervate” for faculty and research students, as well as a state-level seminar competition called “Scintillation” for undergraduate students.
We also conduct guidance classes to prepare students for competitive examinations such as NET-SET, IIT-JAM, TIFR, BHU, NIT, and more. Additionally, our college hosts webinars/seminars on various aspects of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Startup programs, Entrepreneurship, IPR, and other relevant topics for the benefit of our students and faculty members.
Noteworthy achievements include our selection for establishing an Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) by the Innovation Cell under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. In 2022, we were honored to receive a prestigious FIST (Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure) grant of Rs. 57 lakh from the Department of Science and Technology. This grant highlights our dedication to enhancing our science and technology infrastructure. We have also been granted Rs. 2 Crore under component 9 of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for infrastructure development during the academic year 2018-19.
Our consistent performance has earned us a place among the top 100 science colleges in India according to “India Today Survey,” “Outlook magazine,” and “Career 360.” Furthermore, our faculty members have received research project funding through Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission (RGSTC), supported by the Government of India. Our faculty members have also received research project funding through UGC & DST too. We take pride in our achievements and remain committed to providing exceptional education and fostering a culture of innovation and research.

Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2006 to run B.Sc. undergraduate course. Current intake capacity for the course is sixty students. We offer Biotechnology subject with Chemistry and any one option from Microbiology/Botany/Zoology. The Department has also run post-graduation courses during the year 2010-2014.
